It all started with a table, a set of tiles, and a few friends.
Camel City Mahjong was founded in 2024 by a mother-daughter team with a lifelong love of the game. What began as teaching friends around the table has grown into an active mahjong community in Winston-Salem and surrounding areas.
We offer expert-led lessons, guided and open play, themed events, and seasonal leagues, creating spaces where players of all levels can learn, connect, and enjoy the tradition of mahjong together.
With trained instructors and thoughtfully curated experiences, Camel City Mahjong blends education, hospitality, and fun.
At our core, we believe mahjong is more than a game. It’s a way to build community, foster friendships, and bring people together around the table.

Camel City Mahjong offers lessons and events for groups of all sizes across Winston-Salem and the Triad. From small private lessons to large corporate and charity events, our experienced team creates thoughtful, well-run experiences that make learning and playing feel effortless.
We also host group lessons throughout the community at partner venues, along with a seasonal league for players looking for regular play and connection.
The Triad’s Premier Mahjong League
Since launching, Camel City Mahjong has taught more than 1,000 students across Winston-Salem and surrounding areas.
What began as a family tradition has grown into a thriving community built on connection, strategy, laughter, and a shared love of the game.
For many players, that connection continues through Mahj 336, our seasonal league designed for regular play and community. With weekly sessions and a welcoming group of players, Mahj 336 offers a fun, low-pressure way to build confidence, sharpen your skills, and stay connected to the local mahjong community.
Mahj 336 is a partnership between Camel City Mahjong in Winston-Salem and The Mahj Pal in Greensboro. Players from across the Triad can join a league in either city and become part of a larger, connected community. Seasonal league play culminates in a year-end tournament—a fun and exciting way to bring both communities together!
